We had a beautiful evening of worship at Christchurch tonight, lead by two worship leaders from North Carolina in America (Molly Williams and Paulette Wooten), the whole time was filled with the love and peace of the Lord, it was lovely! Worship songs that spoke from our hearts, sung so excellently by two girls with a guitar, a keyboard and a mac, and a power that I long to live everyday by.
Paulette spoke about her life with Jesus. It was amazing, and lasted a long time but we didn't want her to stop talking. It was about how she had been a christian and tried to be perfect for Jesus, until everything broke down and she actually had to find Jesus, had a filling of the Holy Spirit and that her life was changed. (She tells it so much better than I can) Paulette mentioned something about 'they had knowledge but no power because they didn't have the Hold Spirit' (my horrid paraphrase), I think it's in the Bible somewhere. I must find it.
What I got from her testimony was the shear extent of life the holy spirit brought to her, how this joyful experience began transforming her into a passionate worship leader of today and that yes, that is the gospel I know...
Not of condemnation, but of simple peace, love and joy, of excitement and change, of Jesus.
God was speaking to me this evening, I was more than content!
Phil shared at the end how he had been listening and singing this one song for over twelve months, every single day. The song 'How he loves' by John Mark McMillan. And that 3 days ago after not being able to get it out of his head he found himself listening to it in tears, hearing God speak in the song to him about revival in church, about lighting a fire...
(heres the cool bit).... and you know what, Molly chose to finish with that song (before Phil spoke), that song that was written by Molly's brother-in-law (Phil didn't know that), and that song that brings a huge passion of love and peace to all that sing it. More Lord.
So it was a great time. Molly sang some David Gray with 'Babylon' at one point, it was perfect.
(Paulette said she liked my voice.... I have a cold, I sound like a North-Western Barry White, but I liked the complement!)
I love Jesus, I want to meet with him like that much more often, I want to know him more, and see him move.
